Honorable Mention in Topps Design-a-Card contest

TWENTY YEARS LATER, I LEARN I WON (ALMOST): As Joe Cox put it: “What are the odds that I have a 20-year-old magazine that has sat in a box for like a year, that I pick up and scan through it, and that I happened to immediately pick you out? If you wrote it as fiction, well, first people would wonder why you were writing about it, but then, nobody would believe it.”

Yep. 20 years ago I submitted a drawing to a Topps Sports Card Magazine to design a baseball card. Tuesday night, I found out that all those years ago, the editors gave me an honorable mention and printed my card.

Check out the card marked ‘E.’ Even then, I was into bobbleheads.
